嘉明湖
Lake Jia-Min: The fragrant grass along the edge of the lake reflects on the placid surface of the water. The thin ice floats on the shallow of water by the bank. The grass's shadows reflect on both the misty ice and limpid water. You can stand in the cool fog by Lake Jia-Min, meditating gently. You can listen to the twittering of the lake, the whisper of a forest, the echo of a deep and secluded valley, the proud voice of a mountain, the sigh of terra firma and the tide of a sea of clouds. Interweaving all of the voices, you feel refreshed as if you were in Xanadu. Such a sentiment pouring in, you would like to freeze up the feelings in order to recall them over and over. Thus, you can witness, touch, swoon into Arcadia.
嘉明湖：沿湖的芳草，倒映在湖中，近岸的湖上浮著一層薄冰，映在冰上和映在水中的倒影，形成迷濛與清澈的兩個層次。你可以站在嘉明湖邊的涼沁沁的霧中，廝守冥想，信手拾起雲海的潮音﹑幽谷的迴響﹑森林的私語﹑湖水的呢喃﹑山巒的豪語，與大地的嘆息，層層重重互相疊踏，共同組成這個天籟的國度。這般傾注的情境，使得每每在反覆回想的過程中，恨不得將這份感覺凍結，如此才能目視﹑才能撫觸﹑才能放逐自己於桃花源中。
The azure sky projects on the fathomless lake, presenting the beauty, both elegant and poised, without vulgarity or boorishness. No wonder that many mountain-climbers come to Lake Jia-Min from far away. Going through a long and difficult journey, people come here from afar, finally locating themselves in the heaven. They seemed to enter a placid, broad, spiritual world, listening to the music performed by Mother Nature and folks. This mental state, naturally, is being empathized to all the mountain-lovers. It not only arises from your subconscious with the most delicate beauty, but also offers a delighted, desired end.
蔚藍的天空，投影在深不見底的湖水上，所展現出那種超凡脫俗，雍容華貴之美，難怪許多登山人都要不遠千里而來嘉明湖．歷經長途跋涉之苦，千里迢迢來到嘉明湖，最後將自己置身在桃花源中，彷彿走入一個平和寬闊的心靈世界，聆聽天﹑地﹑人合奏共鳴的聲音．這份心境很自然地移情至所有愛山人士，它不但引起潛意識裡最優美的自然界相互共鳴，同時更提供大家一個懈意的夢幻歸宿．
從這兒望過去，嘉明湖幽靜的湖光山色令人嘆為觀止，而當暮色漸深，銀光悄悄灑上山腰之際，其豔麗之姿更是無與倫比．只要親眼目睹如此勝景的人，都會忍不住再次重遊舊地．夕陽遍照於廣闊的高地上，直到天地交界之處只剩一線超乎自然的微光－－之後，剎那之間暮色已經降臨．
嘉明湖附近有許多山頭﹑森林﹑雪地等提供湖水的來源．水往低處流，湖泊低而廣納細流．登山人逐水草而居，有水的地方就有營地，有營地的地方就有遊客．湖岸來來往往的登山客，每天迫不得已在湖水上游排洩，使得嘉明湖有如一潭由各種不同生化物品調成的湖水．湖水取之於人，用之於人，透過消化系統，於是逐漸累積成肥水．如此循環再利用，生生不息，源源不絕，返哺歸真，回歸自然．肥水肥沃了湖濱，也肥沃了晚餐的蛋花湯．
喝過晚餐的蛋花湯，在漆黑深夜，趁著照明不足之便，到湖畔方便一下，循環再利用的慣律再度上演．這時，舉頭仰望，一彎明月冉冉上升；低頭俯視，見到映在含有肥水的湖面上的月光倒影，你突然領悟到，或許嘉明湖就是”肥沃月彎”的寫照．
